The day a boy named Christopher Forrester rescued a griffin from a lake changed his life forever. It was then that he learned about the Archipelago, a cluster of islands that do not appear on any map. From ancient times to the present day, mythical creatures have lived there, powered by the magic of a brilliant light. On the same day, Christopher met Mel Ervorian, an orphaned girl with a flying coat. Mel and Christopher set off on a journey across the wild islands to find at least someone who can explain why the magic is disappearing and the magical creatures are dying. They have to save this wonderful world before it's too late.
